Super is gearing up for the Spring/Summer 2010 seasons by previewing their latest line of sunglasses entitled the “W”.  The “W” sunglasses draw inspiration from the late 70s Italian design aesthetic incorporating a continuous one line shape and world renowned Carl Zeiss lenses. These unique sunglasses will be available in 5 colorways but classic black takes the cake. Look out for these in the future. (Source 1)

super-crystal-glassesThe Super Crystal sunglasses ($114) are truly unique because they are completely see-through, minus the hinges and the wire frame within the arms. Because of the thick transparent frames & lenses, those far away will never know you’re wearing sunglasses. I don’t know how useful transparent sunglasses are, but one things for sure these see-through sunglasses are a fashion statement not a fashion necessity.

  • Maison Martin Margiela Mono Lens Sunglasses

    MMM mono shades

Last year Maison Martin Margiela introduced their very first pair of sunglasses which were mono lens shades entitled “Margiela L’incognito”. To follow up this year, the Maison Martin Margiela brand recently made their new style of mono lens sunglasses ($493.10) available but the real question that comes to my mind is- have mono lens shades ever caught on? And will they ever catch on? These aren’t the first nor the last pair of mono sunglasses we’re going to see and I personally believe any attempt to make mono sunglasses popular is a failed one. The problem is that mono sunglasses give off a sci-fi futuristic look and because of this whoever wears mono lens shades looks as though they’re going up to audition for a part in the next Star Trek film. Sunglasses are supposed to complete an outfit not distract or grab too much attention and because of their basic design mono lens sunglasses are incapable of being ones casual everyday sunglasses. Although Maison Martin Margiela did a pretty good job with these shades, until there’s some sort of revolutionary shift in fashion, bi lens sunglasses are here to stay. What do you’ll think? Will mono shades become commonplace sometime in the future?
