Breaking The NewsChance broke the news via YouTube video – while making his way around U.S. Cellular Field, he shows off his allegiance to his city and his city’s allegiance to him.
The hats are 50% Chance and 50% White Sox. The combination of Chance’s colorways (black and yellow and blue and red) are evident in all three hats. The pinstripes nod to a more classic hat, but the basics of a White Sox are all there, too.
Chance has been wearing the White Sox religiously since he entered the game. He even went as far as to nickname his band, The Social Experiment, SoX for short. Obviously an acronym for their title, but nonetheless a nod to his hometown team.
Rappers and Sports Teams
Off the top of your head, who’s the rapper most likely to be known for their involvement in their hometown sports team? Kanye? No, though rumors of his involvement in the redesign of the Wizards uniforms have always circulated. It’s obvious who it is. It’s Drake – the rapper lives, breathes, and ultimately represents the Raptors.
It seems that the White Sox have taken notice – the team is nearing an ambassador deal with the rapper. So that means… more collaborations on the way?
For both Sox and Chance fans alike, the hats seem to be a success. They go on sale on April 8th on Chance’s website.
