One of most talked about pieces from the Watch the Throne tour and the Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert was Kanye West’s leather kilt. Now a video has resurfaced showing the back story and how the Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy pleated kilt was customized and incorporated into Kanye’s signature performance look. Allen, you must be one of the world´s biggest Givenchy fanboys. What´s so amazing about putting a fucking shark on a t-shirt, retail it for 400$ and call it “high fashion” – Tisci could put a fucking COCK on his designs and Asian following Instagram losers would still go bat shit crazy.

  true, but if you describe any design as sketchy like that literally everything would sound lame. I think you rather hate on the hype and the price than the actual design, because theres probably a reason (aside from all the celebrities wearing it) that people like givenchy and tisci’s designs in general. if they would sell it for cheap at zara or some shit people would buy it too, trust me. but you’re right.

  I´m not hating on Givenchy and Tisci in general – I know he is a respected designer and first and foremost due to dresses and stuff he makes for people like Blake Lively, Beyonce etc. Women has always been the most important market groups for the major fashion houses because over 70% of their revenue come from basically handbags, accessories and make-up. I find it hilarious that when Tisci get chosen as the designer of the year by an extremely snotty crowd of Parisian fashion people, the commenters on sites such as Upscalehype/Hypebeast really think it is because of the whole graphic print trend – when it´ s really due to the dresses and gowns he makes.
  
  You see every recognizable luxury brand do the same nowadays.
  1. First they observe there is interest in high fashion among the youth because urban musicians has made it “street” over the years
  2. Then, they realize that because they´re already recognizable they can just come up with something relatively lazy and put a hefty price tag on it because it will still sell.
  3. They give it to celebrities for free or even pay them to wear it.
  4. People start whoring themselves out on Instagram
  5. European rich fashion moguls laugh their asses off all the way to the bank while a guy in East LA with no health insurance can´t pay rent because he used it on a 400$ t-shirt he saw in a music video.

ok so leather trousers, once the preserve of YMCA fags are nearly acceptable providing you’ve got the swagger to pull it off but a kilt/skirt will NEVER catch on. i dont care if the fusion of genders is contemporary, it looks stupid full stop. tisci brought back cuban fits and layered tees but this is a step too far
