Alexander Wang To be Announced the New Creative Director of Balenciaga

It’s being reported that next week Balenciaga will announce NY designer Alexander Wang as their new creative director. Earlier this month the Paris fashion house decided after 15 years to part ways with French designer Nicolas Ghesquière. Shortly thereafter, rumors began to circulate that Wang was the front-runner to replace the position. Still no official confirmations have yet to be made from neither Balenciaga nor the Alexander Wang camp but sources are reporting the deal is done and an announcement will be made no later than next week. What are your feelings about the move as well as the new direction?

I think this will be an interesting career move for him. His own brand does quite well so it’ll be good to see what he will do for Balenciaga.

  Wang is the sort of Brand (talking especially about his t-shirts) that looks very disappointing when you see pictures online, but if you try them on in real life you´ll see where the money went. This fucker knows silhouettes at a Rick Owens level

hmmm my personal view is its not a great move for the Balenciaga brand … i just feel alexander wangs designs are quite ‘dull’ like no colour , no diversity in design , no risk are taken …. like with Nicolas he gave us the colour, uniqueness and the hunger for more …. dont get me wrong though wangs cuts/execution and qaulity of his products are on point … i just feel design wise he is not eclectic enough.
